Soglio is a gem of a village in the Italian-speaking Val Bregaglia, once said to be “the gateway to paradise” perhaps for the Via Panoramica, a path that travels through a romantic landscape of vibrant wildflowers. Soglio is a tiny village, with narrow cobblestone streets, slate houses, and just a handful of small shops and hotels. Surrounded by meadows and chestnut forests, and with striking mountain scenery, it’s an atmospheric place to step back in time and relax.
Soglio is not far from the Engadine region and the larger resort villages of St Moritz and Pontresina, and can be visited as a daytrip (busses run here from the Maloja pass). It also makes a great off-the-beaten-path overnight stop.
